AKArama Foundation has several types of scholarships available for students. In addition to our AKArama General scholarships which are allocated to students attending HBCUs, students with high scholastics, and students with financial need, we have several named scholarships.
SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS WILL OPEN JANUARY 2026
Linda Marie White Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded to a student pursuing either a career in Public Service or a STEM career.
Virginia Scott Brown Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded to an African American female who will obtain a degree in education, attend a historically black college or university, and demonstrate financial need.
Ruth Montrose Academic Achievement Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a student with high scholastic achievement.
Peggy Johnson Duke Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a student who will attend Tennessee State University or Fisk University.
Dorothy Daylie Houston Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to an older, nontraditional student graduating from a community college in Chicago transferring to a four-year college or university.
Ruth B. Coleman Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a student with financial need and/or high scholastic achievement.
Jacquelyn B. Vaughn Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded to a student pursuing either a career in Public Service or a STEM career.
Mary Gee Brock Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded to a student majoring in performing or non-performing art.

This scholarship will be awarded to a student majoring in Education.
